The upcoming Ghosts movie has released a spooky but hilarious new trailer. While the original BBC sitcom ran for five seasons from 2019 to 2023, with their final Christmas special airing on 25 December 2023, it has risen from the grave for a feature film.
The show followed married couple, Alison and Mike Cooper (played by Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe), who inherit the Button House along with its ghostly inhabitants. Now, the newest feature film, Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, will see audiences return to the spooky manor.
The new trailer shows a group of kids coming across the abandoned manor and deciding to hold a seance with an Ouija board. However, the ghost's attempt to communicate doesn't go according to plan.

Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond return to their roles as creators, writers, and stars, alongside Ritchie and Smith-Bynoe.
The plot for Ghosts: The Possession of Button House is currently under wraps, though it is a continuation of the show, and it will be released in UK cinemas on 23 October 2026. The film will also be directed by Simon Hynd, who'd worked on the original Ghosts, as well as Motherland and There She Goes.

According to the show's creators, there was initially no plan for a comeback. They said (via BBC News): "We never planned to come back. But when we had the idea for this story, we all got so excited that we couldn't resist returning to our haunted home for one more adventure.

"We can't wait to be together and to welcome some brilliant new faces, to tell this soul-stirring tale of life and death."
Taskmaster's Baynton also announced the project on his Instagram page, posting a picture of himself alongside the cast and a nameplate with his and his character's name on it.
He wrote in the caption: "Yes, we are making a film! GHOSTS: The Possession of Button House. We are so excited to be doing this and very grateful to everyone who is making it happen."
Ghosts: The Possession of Button House is out in UK and Irish cinemas on 23 October 2026.
