All Creatures Great and Small is due to return later this year with its seventh season, continuing the story of various characters in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940s following the conclusion of World War II.
One of those figures is Callum Woodhouse's Tristan Farnon, who has had his own struggles after returning from the front line. In an emotional conversation with brother Siegfried in the sixth season, he recalled his horrors from the war.
Tristan did, however, have some good news, as he developed a romantic bond with Charlotte Beauvoir (Gaia Wise). This was developed further in the most recent Christmas special, where they declared their love for each other.

Things could change altogether in the highly-anticipated seventh season though, as Woodhouse teased that the seemingly-happy couple could be driven apart in upcoming scenes.
"It's not really a massive spoiler to say that [Tristan is] still with Charlotte Beauvoir, who is really good for him and helps him with his mental health," said Woodhouse in an interview with RadioTimes.

"She keeps him happy. I think he's a little bit more content. But there's only so long that that can last. So, things may be coming to change, but we don't know," added the actor, who returned to the series in the fifth season.
While it remains to be seen how Tristan and Charlotte's relationship develops, the future of the beloved period drama is relatively secure, with 5 already renewing the series for an eighth season last year.

Greg Barnett, the commissioning editor for the network, called the series a "jewel in 5’s drama crown" upon the renewal order, adding: "Its warmth, humour and heart, set against the beauty of Yorkshire, have made it a firm audience favourite."
"We're thrilled to extend its future with two more [seasons], with many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family," they continued, before adding that the series "continues to delight viewers year after year".
All Creatures Great and Small airs and streams on 5.
