If you fancy a schlocky British thriller to binge over the rest of the bank holiday, then look no further than The Ex-Wife. Based on Jess Ryder's novel of the same name, the series is performing well on a UK streamer, climbing up its chart of most popular shows.
The thriller follows Tasha (Céline Buckens) and Jack (Tom Mison), a happily married couple who are raising their young daughter. Things change, however, when Jack's ex-wife Jen (Janet Montgomery) arrives on the scene.
Originally airing on Paramount+ in 2022 and with a second season released last year, the thriller series is now available to stream in the UK on 5, with all eight episodes across the two seasons being on there.

It has proven to be a success on the UK streamer, with The Ex-Wife currently in the #2 position on its TV chart. At the time of writing, the only series to have performed better is period drama The Hardacres.
In addition to the aforementioned trio, the cast for the series includes Jordan Stephens, Clare Foster and Sam Hoare, while Merlin and Dracula star Katie McGrath replaced Montgomery in the role of Jen in the second season.
What to Read Next
The series has received a positive response from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a solid approval rating of 80% for the first season from five reviews. The follow-up season, however, doesn't have a score.
"All the ingredients for an irresistibly schlocky melodrama are present and correct," wrote The Scotsman of the first season, while The Times noted: "Unashamedly pot-boilerish, it puts plot twists before character credibility. Am I enjoying it? Yes."
"I'll say one thing for The Ex-Wife – it does not hang about, going from 0-60 in no time," opined The Herald, while Decider reserved praise for Buckens and Montgomery's "compelling" performances.

The thriller also garnered a positive response from viewers, with IMDb reporting a user rating of 6.4/10 from 2900 logs. In a 7/10 review, one user praised its blend of "domestic drama and psychological thrills".
