Richard Gadd, creator of 2024's breakout hit Baby Reindeer, is bringing brand-new drama Half Man to the BBC and HBO, and today a first-look trailer has been released, introducing a number of the show's central characters.
The fictional six-part series will centre on Ruben and Niall, two men bonded like brothers, with Gadd (also creator, writer and executive producer) co-starring opposite BAFTA-winner Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers, Billy Elliot).
The tense trailer has offered a first glimpse at the pair in action, teasing the emotional push and pull between them. "He's the best and the worst thing, all at once," Niall's voice is heard saying about Ruben.

We are also introduced to fellow leading actors Mitchell Robertson (Curfew) and Stuart Campbell (SAS Rogue Heroes), who play the younger versions of Niall and Ruben, as the story pieces together from the eighties to the present day.
Half Man's new teaser footage also features Neve McIntosh (Doctor Who, Shetland) in the role of Niall's mother Lori, with Marianne McIvor (The Bombing of Pan Am 103) as Ruben's mother Maura.

The BBC has previously revealed that Half Man will capture "30 years in the lives of these broken men", exploring "brotherhood, violence, and the intense fragility of male relationships."
A previously-released set of first look images unveiled Gadd's Ruben and Bell's Niall coming face to face, with the synopsis revealing that Ruben will show up at Niall's wedding – where "everything seems different".
In a preview interview for GQ, Gadd opened up about the drama's subject matter. "I felt it was interesting to explore dysfunctional manhood, where it comes from, and how it kind of evolves over time," he said. "Why male camaraderie is so intoxicating for people, and why male bonds are so strong, but also why the repercussions of negative male behaviour from that can be also extreme."
The award-winning creator then later went on to argue: "People will say, you know, the show is about masculinity... But I sometimes think it's about two men who struggle to love each other, and don't really know how to do that."
Half Man is one of April's exciting TV releases, and it's coming very soon.
Half Man will premiere on BBC iPlayer on 24 April in the UK, releasing weekly.
