A first look at the BBC's new Richard Gadd drama Half Man has been unveiled.

The Baby Reindeer creator writes and stars in the Glasgow-set series, which looks at the relationship between 'brothers' Ruben (Gadd) and Niall (Jamie Bell), spanning "almost 40 years from the 1980s to the present day".

A first image shows the pair sitting across from each other in a seemingly tense encounter at a diner, while there are also standalone shots of the two characters alone.

Half Man "explores the highs and lows of Ruben and Niall’s relationship", including "as troubled teenagers to witnessing their falling out as adults", alongside "all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry, and challenging moments along the way".

"The series will capture the wild energy of a changing city - a changing world, even - and plumb the depths of what it means to be a man," the synopsis adds.

Speaking previously of the cast, Gadd said: "Having scoured far and wide and met some of the most amazing talent this country has to offer, I’m so pleased to have landed on the cast that we have.

"I cannot wait for all our actors, young and old, to bring these characters to life. I have every faith [that] everyone will fall in love with these performers as much as I did."

Half Man will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.
