Stephen Graham has revealed that he lost his Golden Globe just hours after winning Best Actor in a TV Mini-Series for his role in Adolescence. Appearing on Capital FM, the star recalled how a mix-up at the airport led to him losing the statuette.

"I had to go straight from LA the day after [the Golden Globes] to Madrid as I had to be on set the next day," Graham noted. "I had 35 minutes to catch the plane.

"As I came off the plane, a woman took me down the stairs, threw me in a car, and drove me across the runway. But all I'm thinking is, 'My case isn't going to make it'.

"I said, 'Excuse me, there's no way you're getting my suitcase on this plane if I'm in a car now', and (the staff member) was like 'Oh no, don't worry, we'll take care of it'. The case didn't make the plane, and it was left in Atlanta."

Asked what was in his missing suitcase, Graham replied: "My socks, my pants, my toothbrush… and a Golden Globe. I never left it, I put it in my case – it's heavy, I wasn't carrying that in my hand luggage."

In his acceptance speech, Graham said: "This is for all of our cast and crew – every single member of this production. You have a piece of this because without you this is not in my hands, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you all very much.

"Especially Christine Tremarco, who played my wife. The most beautiful dance partner. This is half yours, kid, so I'll cut it, and you can have the top bit."

After thanking his team, Graham concluded: "And especially, one of the best producers ever, but a woman who I'm very, very lucky to be married to: my wife, Hannah Walters. Who, I've said it before, but you saved my life. You saved my life. And to my two beautiful children, Grace and Alfie, I love you to the moon and back forever. My dad, my pops, my hero. And I would just like to dedicate this particular award to my mum, and all my friends and family. You all know exactly who you are, and without you, none of this is possible."
