A first-look trailer of BBC's new thriller Wild Cherry has just landed ahead of the show's debut this month. Described by the broadcaster as "provocative and deliciously honest", Wild Cherry is fronted by House of the Dragon's Eve Best, The Penguin's Carmen Ejogo, Marcella's Imogen Faires and newcomer Amelia May.

Premiering on Saturday 15 November, the drama unfolds against the backdrop of a private enclave in the Home Counties, and is centred around a damning scandal that threatens to strain the mother-daughter relationship.

The synopsis reads: "In Richford Lake, things appear perfect for super-mum Juliet (Eve Best) and business mogul Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), but when their teens Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May) are accused of a shocking scandal at their exclusive private school, toxic secrets and lies ripple throughout the community.

"A coming-of-age drama for both mothers and daughters as they navigate privilege, power and social media.

"'Like mother like daughter' rings loudly in a complex world, where danger and betrayal is never far from the surface - even in a perfect town."

Additional details on the BBC press site also revealed that a "whirlwind of social media, hidden apps and relentless peer pressure" are the cause of this newfound tension.

The series explores "how far will we go to protect our children?", and asks "just how much do teenage girls know about the women raising them? If the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, then who is leading these girls astray?"

The ensemble cast also includes The Crown's James Murray, Holby City's Hugh Quarshie, Sanditon's Sophie Winkleman, The Winter King's Nathaniel Martello-White and Vikings: Valhalla's Hayat Kamille.

Mood's Nicôle Lecky is the creator and writer behind Wild Cherry. Alongside her role as executive producer on the six-part series, the BAFTA-award-winning Lecky also stars in the show as well.

Lecky's credits include the dark comedy Sweetpea, where she starred alongside Yellowjackets' Jackie actor Ella Purnell.

Discussing Sweetpea, which has been renewed for a second season, Lecky previously told Sky: "It's a great time to have a show where a character is living out the fantasy of whatever the f**k they want to do.

"It is this female rage story where she is seeking vengeance, and television is always such a great outlet for you to experience things that you're not experiencing in your own life.

"Maybe it suggests that at the moment in the world, women are full of rage and want an outlet. That's always a good thing and a good place to be in the industry where you can have female characters who don't give a f**k and are antiheroines. I'm a big fan of that."

All episodes of Wild Cherry will be available to watch on Saturday 15 November on BBC iPlayer from 6am. Episodes 1 and 2 will premiere on BBC One from 9pm.
