The BBC has revealed the cast for The Split Up, the new six-part spin-off of The Split, with Nicola Walker's Unforgotten co-star Sanjeev Bhaskar as one of the leads and plenty of familiar faces in regular or guest roles.
Still set in the competitive world of divorce law but now based in Manchester, the show follows the British South Asian family firm Kishan Law. The firm is led by Bhaskar's character Dhruv, but his daughter Aria, played by The Umbrella Academy's Ritu Arya, is being primed to step up and take over.
However, the death of Aria's mother has Dhruv wondering if it's really the right time to hand over. The whole thing also puts a strain on Aria's relationship with fiancé Neal, a strain that is only exacerbated when a secret former lover turns up in the city.
Together with siblings Maya and Kav, Aria must navigate all the family dramas and work out who she should be living her life for.
Alongside Bhaskar and Arya, the cast also includes Virdee's Aysha Kala, Film Club's Arian Nik, Juice's Mawaan Rizwan, Matilda the Musical's Sindhu Vee, Dinosaur's Danny Ashok, and comedy veterans Lenny Henry and Jane Horrocks.

Abi Morgan, who created both the original show and this spin-off, is quoted as saying: "The chance to take all that was loved about The Split and use it to inspire the next generation of British South Asian talent, to create a new family of dynamic lawyers spilling over with all the messiness of life, both personally and professionally, has been a brilliant challenge, beautifully realised by lead writer Ursula Rani Sarma.
"I hope audiences will take it to their hearts."

"Having admired The Split and Abi Morgan for years, I was honoured to be asked to bring The Split Up to life," Sarma added. "As a writer passionate about representation, it's a dream come true to place a contemporary British South Asian family centre stage.
"Diversity deepens our understanding, enriches our stories, and reflects the true fabric of our society. It's thrilling to watch our amazing cast led by Ritu and Sanjeev bring the Kishan family to life. I can't wait for audiences to meet them and to witness the drama as it unfolds."
The Split Up has just begun filming. It does not currently have a release date.
