Harlan Coben is the gift that keeps on giving, as a first trailer for the hotly anticipated psychological thriller Lazarus has just been released.
Starring Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, the Prime Video series follows psychiatrist Joel Lazarus. Joel returns home when his father, Dr Jonathan Lazarus, dies by apparent suicide.
The protagonist suspects that his dad may have been murdered and that his death could be linked to that of his sister Sutton, killed 25 years prior.
As he investigates a series of cold cases, Joel starts experiencing disturbing visions that he can't explain, which make him question his own sanity.
The cast for Harlan Coben's Lazarus is rounded out by Alexandra Roach as Joel's sister Jenna Lazarus, David Fynn as Seth McGovern, Karla Crome as Bella Catton, and Kate Ashfield as Detective Alison Brown.

The trailer kicks off with a disquieting conversation between Joel and a patient in a mental institution.
The man claims he can talk to God and seems to hold a grudge against Joel and his dad, saying he thinks Joel is a "fake".
"Like father, like son," he continues, adding that he'd asked God to punish Lazarus.
The clip cuts to a phone call from Joel's sister Jenna, who informs him of their father's sudden death.
Joel believes something is off with his father's death and starts obsessing over an apparent suicide note Jonathan has left behind. The puzzling note includes a drawing of a table and the words, "It's not over".

Sharing his theory with a friend, Joel tells him he's started seeing "ghosts" of people who have been killed.
"I've been seeing people who have died. Seeing them like I'm seeing you right now. They were murdered," Joel says.
"All my professional knowledge is telling me this cannot be happening. Must be a trick on my mind. But I'm seeing them."
Still unsure whether the grief is doing a number on him or there's some truth to these supernatural clues, Joel pressures his father's ghost for answers as to what really happened on the night he died.
Whatever route he chooses, Joel has little time to prove his innocence when he gets too close to a murder case.
Harlan Coben's Lazarus is executive produced and written by Coben and Fool Me Once's Danny Brocklehurst, alongside Happy Valley's Nicola Shindler and The Stranger's Richard Fee and Claflin.
All six episodes of Harlan Coben's Lazarus will be released on 22 October on Prime Video.
