Jodie Whittaker thriller One Night has confirmed a UK release date after being previously pulled from a streamer.

Originally added to Paramount+ in 2023, the Australia-set thriller will be coming to ITVX on 16 August, with the first episode airing at 9.30pm on ITV1 that same day.

One Night was removed from Paramount+ overnight in 2024 together with some other English-language drama content. At the time, the conglomerate's strategy was focused on "Hollywood-style content" and lower costs (via Deadline).

Now, viewers in the UK will be able to finally watch the series, following three friends renavigating the memories of a sexual assault that happened decades prior.

Whittaker stars as Tess, a woman who finds out her teenage best friend, Simone (Nicole da Silva) has written a novel about her rape without consulting her. The stars are joined by Yael Stone as Hat, completing the trio.

In a chat with Digital Spy, Whittaker shared what drew her to the role, describing the character as "the biggest challenge to play".

"I think the thing about Tess that's so fascinating to me, that was the biggest challenge to play, was that actually unlike a lot of the characters I play, she internalises it," the former Doctor Who star said.

"So the armour has been built up for 20 years. The protective barrier is there. There's a certain amount of coldness to the people closest to her as well," she continued, saying she's the "polar opposite" to Tess.

"I found that stillness within Tess – it's not an internalised stillness, but it's an exterior protective bubble – fascinating to play, especially when the cracks start to appear."

One Night starts streaming on ITVX on 16 August. Episode 1 airs on ITV1 at 9.3opm on 16 August.
