This year's Christmas special might be off the table but Doctor Who still has plenty of adventures in store for fans. For one, Nicola Walker reprises the role of Liv Chenka in a newly released audio drama about an "aggressive galactic weed" taking over an abandoned planet.
Titled Planet Krynoid: Survivors, the new adventure hails from the Eighth Doctor Adventures series and also stars Paul McGann and Tamsin Greig.
With McGann returning as the Eighth Doctor, the Big Finish audio drama explores the struggle for survival on Colony Sunlight, a destroyed planet now ravaged by a ruthless galactic weed known as the Krynoid.

The three-part adventure, with chapters penned by Jonathan S Powell, Georgia Cook and Jonathan Morris, chronicles the few survivors' race against the clock not to succumb to this new, green threat.
"As the planet turns cold, sinister forces descend on the surface, and time runs out for the scattered survivors. Could salvation lie a hundred years ago - with a Doctor, a MedTech and a big blue box?" the synopsis teases.
What to Read Next
Walker hinted at parallels with the real world, commenting: "I like these stories when it gets very odd, with plants growing and killing us! But, you can draw real-world parallels too - it's otherworldly and imaginary, except there's something in there that has the bite of truth."
Greig, who makes her Big Finish debut as Overseer Amesus Vail, said: "This is my first audio Doctor Who - it's amazing how it's taken so long for Big Finish to ask me! Amesus Vail is on this distant planet and is pretty stressed with the isolation, the abandonment and having to keep this show on the road. If you go green on this planet, you're dying - it's a lovely inversion!"
As for the dynamic between Walker's Liv and McGann's Doctor, Georgia Cook said it was "great fun" to write.
"Liv is such a steely personality and really can be in charge. Even with the Doctor gone, she can hold her own," she said, with producer, director and writer Jonathan S Powell adding that the Doctor and companion duo are "always dependable".
"There's so much to enjoy here, and more story yet to be told – if anyone survives, that is," Powell concluded.
Planet Krynoid: Survivors is exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 July, and on general sale after this date.
