Russell T Davies has weighed in on the success of his latest TV series, thriller Tip Toe, teasing that he's already at work on a new show. The former Doctor Who showrunner is the mind behind Tip Toe, following the escalating feud between two neighbours in Manchester and how that intersects with rife queerphobia and online conspiracy theories.
Premiering at the end of May this year, the series stars Alan Cumming as Leo Struthers, the gay owner of an LGBTQ+ venue in Manchester, and The Walking Dead star David Morrissey as Leo's next-door neighbour, electrician Clive Goss.
The series kicks off with a horrifying flash-forward, then goes back to ten days prior — that's when Leo and Clive cross paths after Leo's one-night stand goes wrong. What starts as a friendly relationship as Leo hires Clive to work at his bar quickly turns sour, setting up a deadly conclusion.

Davies, who also created It's a Sin, a series zeroing in on the HIV and AIDS crisis in the UK, reflected that "the state of the world" inspired his new series Tip Toe.
Speaking at the Attitude Pride Awards ceremony, Davies said (via BBC News): "It's just the way things are heading in gay rights and queer rights, and especially trans rights, but actually the violence and problems that arise in Tip Toe could apply to almost any group".

"If it was a Jewish drama you wouldn't blink about the problems being expressed. Women would say 'that's our life'."
Then, he teased he's currently writing another series as "there's always a lot to say".
"I think if I can write this stuff forever, then I will. I'm already planning a new one. I don't know if it works yet, because I haven't finished writing it," he said.
In June, Davies confirmed he would no longer showrun Doctor Who after the BBC announced the series would be put out to competitive tender.
At the time, Davies shared that he would exit the series for the second time following his previous departure at the end of the David Tennant era and commented on the axed Christmas special.
"And so GOODBYE from me to Doctor Who but HELLO to a big new future for the show, as the BBC announces it's putting the show out to tender," he wrote on Instagram.
"As a result, there won't be a Christmas Special - we only cooked that up to guarantee a future when no one knew what would happen, but now we do know, there's no need for it. You'll have to wait a bit longer for new Doctor Who… but you'll be waiting for MORE Doctor Who than a one-off. So it's worth it!"
Tip Toe is streaming on Channel 4.
