The Truth Will Out, the Swedish mystery thriller likened to Slow Horses, has been added to a streamer in the UK.

The series follows Detective Peter Wendel (Robert Gustafsson) and his "miserably inadequate" team as they investigate long-forgotten cold cases, with one such mission seeing them discover evidence that an innocent man had been convicted.

Originally airing in 2018, the eight-part season was succeeded by a follow-up three years later, with the debut season currently available to stream in the UK on Prime Video. The second season, consisting of five parts, is available on Viaplay.

Co-starring Louise Peterhoff and Maria Langhammer in supporting roles, The Truth Will Out has been acclaimed by viewers, with each season of the crime thriller currently having a perfect audience score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

"This is my favourite series of all time. The acting is superb, the casting perfect, the story development and writing perfect and complex and the directing phenomenal. This series is the standard by which I judge all other series," noted one viewer.

"If you like a gritty, gripping and frankly eye widening crime show this one is for you!!! Season one left my jaw on the floor with murder and corruption and season two has left me in pieces!!! Top tier acting from all the cast," added another user.

"This is one of the best crime thrillers I have seen in a long time. The concept of putting a team of mismatched cops together to solve an old murder case didn't grab me at first but I am glad I gave it a chance," wrote one viewer as they noted the moments of "great tension".

One other user was also full of praise for the "terrific" series as they dubbed it the "Swedish version of Slow Horses", while another viewer lauded the "dark humour" and "mind-twisting" moments in the narrative.

While The Truth Will Out is now on Prime Video, the streamer has you covered if action thrillers are more your thing, with The Assassin - a six-part series starring Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore - premiering on Friday.

The Truth Will Out season 1 is on Prime Video; season 2 is on Viaplay.
