The new star-studded thriller series The Assassin has finally confirmed a release date – and fans won't have long to wait.

The Prime Video show, which comes from The Tourist's Harry and Jack Williams, follows a retired assassin called Julie who is living in Greece, only for her estranged son Edward to turn up with questions about his father.

It has now been confirmed that the six-part series will premiere on the streamer on 25 July in the UK and Ireland, which is only a few weeks away.

An action-packed first trailer has also dropped, showcasing main stars Keeley Hawes (Miss Austen) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor) as the mother-and-son duo.

Prime Video has promised "high-stake drama and thrilling action" with the show, which sees Julie and Edward forced to flee from the Greek island when her past starts to catch up with her.
