French-German thriller series that's been hailed as a "suspenseful" and "satisfying" is now available to stream in the UK.
Originally released in 2022, The Forest of the Missing (also known as Les Disparus de la Forêt-Noire) is now streaming on Prime Video for subscribers based in the UK.
The four-part drama is set near the Franco-German border, where 12 bodies are discovered in a mass grave in the Black Forest.
The victims are all men, both French and German, who have been killed over a period of 30 years, with the most two recent bodies suggesting that whoever is the killer, they're still operating in the present.
The case is intertwined with the story of French judge Camille Hartmann (Hélène de Fougerolles), who's been left with amnesia after a car accident.

The discovery of the mass grave brings back fragments of memories for Camille, prompting her to reach out to the police to be involved in the investigation.
The cast for the series is rounded out by Grégory Fitoussi as policeman Erik Maes, an inspector from the German side leading the investigation with Captain Franz Agerland (Tchéky Karyo).
On IMDb, viewers are praising the drama's gloomy atmosphere, as one person noted: "A good atmospheric thriller. Like all the French thrillers I've seen this was well written and suspenseful."
"The acting and locations were great, as was the cinematography and dark atmosphere throughout. It had a good variety [of] characters, but I felt they didn't gave enough depth for the total running time of over 3 hours," they added, describing the conclusion as "satisfying" and with a "strong" message.

Other viewers pointed out some incongruences in the series, with one person describing the plot as "implausible" and "bad".
"Nonetheless, it was an easy three hours over four episodes to get into," another viewer wrote. "I just lost myself in the twists and turns and enjoyed the scenes and scenery."
