A “triumphant” drama from Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright has found a new UK streaming home - and you can watch it for free.
Renegade Nell debuted on Disney+ last March but, despite positive reviews, was cancelled after one season. The historical fantasy series is now available to watch on ITVX from today (22 June).
Penned by Wainwright, who also created and produced the series, Renegade Nell follows the story of Nell Jackson (played by Derry Girls actor Louisa Harland), a woman in a fantasy version of 18th century England, who accidentally becomes the country’s biggest outlaw.
The synopsis reads: "Nell Jackson finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England; but when a magical spirit called Billy Blind appears, Nell realizes her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined."
The all-star cast also included Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed, as well as Adrian Lester (The Undeclared War), Craig Parkinson (Misfits), and Jodhi May (Dune: Prophecy).
Although it was cancelled after one series, the show was a critical success and currently has a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes from 37 critic reviews.

Back when the cancellation was announced, Disney+ released a statement, telling Deadline: "We’re incredibly proud of the world created by Sally Wainwright and lead director Ben Taylor."
