Silent Witness star Emilia Fox's documentary series In the Footsteps of Killers has returned with new episodes available to watch now.

The show, which originally debuted in 2021, sees the actor investigate cold murder cases alongside criminologist Professor David Wilson as they attempt to find new leads that may have been missed.

The third season is now available to stream in full on Channel 4, with cases in the new episodes including the murders of council employee Bulic Forsythe, and lovers Brian Price and Susan Tetrault.

In the Footsteps of Killers has proved divisive amongst fans and critics, with one viewer writing on IMDb that they found watching the pair "walk through their processes interesting".

However, another labelled the true crime series "odd", adding: "Why? Just why? Scripted 'documentary'. Production is awful. Camera doesn't keep still. Don't waste your time."

A third called it "a strange set-up for a show", noting that "the scenes of the two 'gathering information' are cringe-inducing, [with] poorly acted staged and scripted moments".

On the critics' side of things, The Guardian's Lucy Mangan suggested that the series "will make your soul recoil" and that it's "hard not to feel as a viewer that you are being lightly spat on by the entire production team".

The i Paper suggested the show is "gimmicky" and even "tasteless", though Decider argued that it "puts a refreshing, genuinely moving spin on what could easily have been just another tired crime series in an oversaturated genre".

Fox is best known for playing Dr Nikki Alexander on Silent Witness, having joined the hit BBC crime series back in 2004.

Earlier this year, she paid tribute to series creator Nigel McCrery following his death, saying she was "hugely fond" of him and further described the writer and producer as "kind and warm".

In the Footsteps of Killers is available to stream now on Channel 4. Silent Witness airs on BBC One.
