Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has issued a major warning to fans ahead of the sci-fi show's new episode.

Season 15's upcoming sixth episode, which will air on BBC One tomorrow ahead of the Eurovision Grand Final, is a fittingly Eurovision-themed adventure centred on the Interstellar Song Contest, where planets from across the universe compete for the crown.

Taking to Instagram, Davies shared a still from the episode, which sees Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor unconscious and floating in space.

In the caption, the showrunner warned fans who are not planning to watch the episode as soon as it drops on iPlayer at 8am to steer clear of social media to avoid major spoilers.

"Just WAIT til you see how the Doctor gets out of this..! TOMORROW is the Interstellar Song Contest," he wrote.

"Be warned, once this drops on the iplayer at 8am, spoilers will FLY! If you like to save it till the evening TX or later, keep your head down and stay offline."

It was previously confirmed that Graham Norton – who has served as the BBC's television commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2009 – will appear in the episode, with Davies saying "it's not just a cameo".

"There’s no song contest without the great man himself, and it was an honour to welcome Graham Norton to our studios in Cardiff," he shared last month.

"And it’s not just a cameo, he has a whole plot twist all to himself! This is the wildest episode of all, and we’re lucky to have Graham adding to the mayhem."

The episode will also include guest appearances from Unforgotten's Charlie Condou, Slow Horses stars Kadiff Kirwan and Freddie Fox, Miriam-Teak Lee and Rylan Clark.

Rylan previously said that getting called up to do Doctor Who was a call he had "always dreamed of getting".

"The episode is all my favourite things about the show with an added song contest set in space," he added. "It really is a dream come true. I can't wait for everyone to see it. It really is going to be out of this world."
