ITV has confirmed the return date for crime drama Unforgotten — and fans don't have long to wait.

Season 6 of the crime show, which began back in 2015, will premiere on Sunday, February 9 at 9pm on ITV1 and STV. Episode 2 will air at 9pm the very next day (Monday, February 10).

Sanjeev Bhaskar and Sinéad Keenan are back as DIs Sunny and Jess, respectively. The duo are called in when human remains are found in a marsh, and it's apparent that the body had been dismembered first.

The season will also introduce new characters. We'll meet an outspoken TV commentator, an autistic man living with his mother, an Afghan man training for his UK citizenship test, and a history lecturer. Initially, their lives seem unconnected but as things unfold, it turns out that they might all be linked to each other — and the murder.

When filming commenced back in March, creator and writer Chris Lang said the season will tell "a story that has been gestating for nearly eight years, since the 23rd June 2016, when our country seemed to fracture in two".

Unforgotten returns to ITV1 and STV from February 9, and will be available to stream on ITVX and STV Player. Seasons 1-5 are available to stream now.
