Doctor Who spoilers follow.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has confirmed that more will be revealed about Anita Dobson's mysterious character, Mrs Flood.

Monday's festive special 'The Church on Ruby Road' marked the first solo adventure for Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson's companion, Ruby Sunday.

The episode concluded with a mid-credits scene in which Ruby's nosy neighbour, Mrs Flood, saw the TARDIS disperse.

Speaking about the fourth wall-breaking moment on Doctor Who: Unleashed, Davies teased: "Mrs Flood is a mysterious character. You will eventually find out more about her. She’s a slow burn, Mrs Flood. Who is Mrs Flood? Come back and find out!"

"Today what you see is a friendly neighbour," Dobson added. "What the future may be, no one knows. Russell is writing it as we speak."

As for what else viewers can expect from Doctor Who's return in May 2024, Davies recently revealed there will be an episode featuring The Beatles.

He also hinted that the mystery surrounding Ruby's origins will be addressed in series 14, telling Digital Spy and other media: "This was quite a fable, about a foundling on the church doorstep in the snow. So that story then continues into the series.

"We come back to that church. There's all sorts of things. There were people in those scenes you don't know were there. We have a lot more to come."

Doctor Who returns in May 2024. The show airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.

Classic episodes of Doctor Who are now made available via BBC iPlayer in the UK as well.
