Beyond Paradise actor Zahra Ahmadi has revealed that she wants a certain popular Strictly Come Dancing star to join the cast of the BBC crime drama spin-off.

Ahmadi, who plays Detective Sergeant Esther Williams in the show after playing a different role in parent show Death in Paradise, was asked who her dream guest star was, and she knew just the person.

"It would be Chris McCausland. I thought he was amazing on Strictly and I recently watched his Christmas special with Lee Mack," she told the BBC. "He's a fantastic comedian, human being and actor. He'd be brilliant in an episode."

While McCausland might be a perfect fit for Beyond Paradise, the comedian and latest Strictly winner is incredibly busy this year.

He's got a weekly podcast alongside Dianne Buswell, a tour that's set to run into next year, and a memoir that is due to release in October.

What to Read Next

Beyond Paradise just returned for its season 3 premiere, an episode that we at Digital Spy found "underwhelming" but acknowledged was "planting seeds for bigger stories with emotional pay-offs to come".

One of those planted seeds might be a romance between Esther and Archie (Jamie Bamber), something that Ahmadi teased in an exclusive interview with us.

"Certainly she does think he's a good looking guy. She talks about it in season 1," the actor explained.

"I think she's open [to more with Archie], but I think she's also a good friend," Ahmadi continued.

"There does come a point in the exploration of this thing with Archie that she feels guilty and that perhaps she's not being a good friend to Martha (Sally Bretton) because they have started up quite a good friendship."

Beyond Paradise airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
