Channel 5 has just announced the hotly anticipated return of popular period drama All Creatures Great and Small, now on its sixth season.

Taking to Instagram today, the network posted a picture of a clapperboard emblazoned with the name and logo of the show.

"Exciting news – the cast and crew have officially kicked off filming for Season 6 in beautiful Yorkshire today! We can't wait to return to Darrowby with all of you soon," the caption read.

Set in the Yorkshire Dales in the late 1930s and 1940s, All Creatures Great and Small stars Samuel West as eccentric veterinary surgeon Siegfried Farnon. At the beginning of the show, Siegfried hires new vet James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) to work alongside him and his younger brother Tristan (Callum Woodhouse).

Created by Ben Vanstone and premiered in 2020, the series is based upon the series of books written by Alf Wight under the pseudonym of James Herriot.

The cast for the show is rounded out by Anna Madeley as the Farnons' housekeeper, Mrs Audrey Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot (née Alderson), and James Anthony-Rose as Richard Carmody.

All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5 in the UK. Season 6 doesn't have a release date yet, while seasons 1-5 are available on My5.
