The BBC has announced a new Golden Balls-style daytime quiz show, with a familiar face set to host.

The Inner Circle sees contestants compete in a series of rounds, which test their general knowledge and strategic thinking.

As they make their way through, they have to decide who they can trust and be prepared to join forces to take home a cash prize – though the finale could see them betrayed.

"We’re delighted to be joining forces to bring viewers a gripping new quiz that, for the first time, they’ll be able to play along with not only during the week, but on a Saturday tea time too," added head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak Rob Unsworth and the BBC's head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight.

"Getting the answers right on this show is only half the battle – contestants also need to decide who they trust enough to keep in the game, all under the watchful eye of the brilliantly mischievous Amanda Holden."

The Inner Circle is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with a premiere date yet to be confirmed.
