JJ suggests to Dex that they check in with Taye on their school lunch break. They arrive home to find the house in a mess and Taye absent, and JJ's worry grows. When they find him in The Waterhole, JJ expresses his concern but a laid-back Taye is unfazed. Nell arrives, thrown to see JJ and Dex with a stranger.
JJ feels the strain of his lie when he talks to Remi over the phone, revealing that Andrew is taking them out for dinner. Dex tries to beg off to hang out with Taye but JJ puts his foot down, leaving Dex unimpressed.
Dex returns home, where Taye offers him a beer. Wanting to seem cool in his uncle's eyes, Dex throws caution to the wind and takes a drink.

Meanwhile, Byron finally gives Clint his seal of approval and Jane is relieved, admitting she'd like to see him again. Jane then has a brief flirtatious exchange with Taye, leaving Byron amused by all the younger men taking an interest in his mother.
A flattered Jane is soon brought back to earth when she's forced to clean the school toilets, before hurrying off to meet the new cleaner. But when she does, she is horrified to realise that the new cleaner is Clint.
Elsewhere, Nell updates Terese about her run-in with Paul and an angry Terese confronts him. Although Paul insists that Nell is trying to break them up, Terese disagrees, saying that he should have come to her with his concerns and not Nell.
Aaron points out that Paul's annoyance has nothing to do with Nell and everything to do with distracting himself from the upcoming anniversary of David's death – something Paul can't deny.
