Neighbours spoilers follow for UK-pace episodes on Channel 5.

Neighbours reveals Elly Conway's sentence in emotional scenes next week.

Elly is pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter after coming under suspicion of killing Finn Kelly.

Viewers know that Finn's recent death was an accident of his own making, but Elly has been advised that her best chance of avoiding a prison sentence is to accept responsibility.

Next week, the sentencing hearing takes place and Elly remains optimistic that things will go her way.

Elly's lawyer Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) is also feeling confident, having prepared thoroughly for the court case.

Sadly, when the big moment comes, everyone is shellshocked as Elly receives a harsh three-year sentence – a twist that nobody was expecting.

Elly is devastated as she's led away to the prison to begin her sentence, knowing that she'll be losing her freedom for a long time.

Although Toadie immediately vows to lodge an appeal against the tough outcome, Elly will be spending her time behind bars for the foreseeable future.

Jodi Anasta, who plays Elly, recently spoke to Digital Spy and promised some big new twists and turns for her character before she ultimately leaves the show in a few months' time.

"The thing people don't know is how unpredictable the story will be. Most people think that Elly will go to jail and then I leave. It's not that," Jodi told us.

"What's going to happen is very unpredictable and I love that. It's great for the viewers."

Neighbours airs these scenes on Monday, May 11 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
