New Hollyoaks star Brooke Vincent has confirmed how long she is set to stay on the soap for. The former Coronation Street star is set to join the show as Abigail Matthews, a rehab counsellor who gets a job as a teacher at Hollyoaks High.

Opening up about her career plans, Brooke says she has been inspired by Adele's routine of working for a bit before taking a large gap of time off.

"My aim in life is to have the Adele ratio of working a couple of years, having loads of time off, then working again for a couple of years," she told The Sun's TV Mag. "That’s not yet happened…."

She then shared: "I’m here for 12 months, so there’s room for Abigail’s story to develop."

Brooke previously played Sophie Webster on Corrie before departing in 2019 to go on maternity leave, and she has since welcomed two children.

The star recently told Inside Soap that fans used to Sophie may be surprised by her new role of Abigail, admitting: "She’s miles away from Sophie Webster!

"The best thing is that she’s completely different to what people have seen me play, and it’s a big thing for me coming in to a more mature role.

"I’ve always played the young girl; Sophie was the baby of the family. Abigail stands her ground with whatever she says, and I’m having lots of fun playing her."

The actor further teased that viewers will see "a very sensitive side" to her new character, though Abigail is "still quite stern".

Teasing her entry storyline further, Brooke said: "Dee Dee’s going through a time where she desperately needs stability and guidance, and Abigail steps in and does that at rehab.

"When Dee Dee escapes, Abigail wants to make sure that she gets home okay, so she follows her to the village. Instantly she forms connections and makes friends, which is a really good way of coming in. I’ve been working with everyone which has been fab for me."

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
