Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on E4 and on Channel 4 streaming. This article also contains discussion of rape that readers might find distressing.

Hollyoaks' second episode of 2026 has followed up on James Nightingale's return to the village with some major revelations, and potentially the first death of the year for the Channel 4 soap (Corriedale had it pipped to the post for soaps overall though).

Tonight's episode began with James helping Ste Hay as he struggled to remain conscious after being drugged by his twisted son Lucas, although he told the paramedics that he was just a stranger and scarpered before Rex Gallagher arrived.

After Ste was taken away, James noticed Froggy Black sitting outside having a pint with Sully, and a grave look of concern came across his face.

James then snuck into Froggy's flat for a confrontation, where it was revealed that he used to serve as his criminal lawyer.

The two shared a drink and few jokes, with James noting that Froggy owes him a few favours, before they got down to business.

"I saw you earlier, with a bent cop," James explained. "The thing is, a client of mine, George O'Donnell, he was beaten then brutally sexually assaulted by an undercover who'd infiltrated his operation."

He showed the police sketch of the perpetrator to Froggy, whose expression turned grim.

"The only cop I've seen today is my son," he revealed.

The two came to an uneasy agreement that if Sully had raped one while undercover, he could have done it again (which we know he did) and needed to be stopped.

James proposed a solution, but Froggy later decided to take matters into his own hands.

When Sully returned home, Froggy told him to sit down, before the old man asked his son outright about George O'Donnell.

When Sully denied doing anything apart from beating him up, Froggy called him a "depraved perverted rapist". In his anger, Sully came clean and stated that he and Griff had resorted to rape every single time, as they were following Froggy's mantra of 'bringing down' anyone who got in their way.

A furious Froggy accused Sully of twisting his words to enable his sick behaviour, and punched him to the ground before threatening to kill him.

Sully tried to make out like he acted the way he did because Froggy was an absent father, and that he should be grateful the undercover work made them a lot of money, which only caused the old man to kick him out the house.

As Sully packed his stuff to leave, Froggy realised that Dodger Savage and Donny Clark had also been raped. As he went to attack Donny, Froggy started to suffer a cardiac arrest.

Sully picked up the phone to call an ambulance, but changed his mind, whispering that his secret is safe now. He walked out the door, leaving Froggy to his fate, but will he actually die?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
