Corriedale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Oliver Farnworth has spoken out after John Sugden's shocking Corriedale exit. The villain finally got his comeuppance in last night's crossover, following his recent return to the village.

Ahead of the special episode, John found himself in a precarious situation, having taken his husband Aaron Dingle and half-brother Robert Sugden captive. After wrestling John to the ground, Robert pointed a gun in his face, but was knocked out by Aaron.

Aaron claimed he wanted to leave with John, but later forced the serial killer to drive himself to the police station. He sat in the passenger seat with the gun to ensure John didn't escape. However, while arguing, speeding John let go of the steering wheel, causing the first crash of a multi-vehicle pile-up on a remote road.

Following the incident, John fled the scene – with Robert, Cain Dingle and Coronation Street's Kit Green hot on his trail. But in the final scenes, viewers saw John's half-sister Victoria Sugden standing over his dead body, seemingly responsible for his shocking death.

Appearing on Corriedale: Backstage Pass, Farnworth (who plays John) discussed the villain's mysterious demise in the crossover and teased Victoria's surprising involvement.

"There's a lot of ambiguity there. We know Aaron's kind of gone off to hospital and we know that Kit's after him, Cain's after him, Robert's after him," he recalled to host Luis Elkes.

"So they're charging through the woods, we know there's a gun. We know the previous history of all the characters. So we go, 'this is going to result in some kind of huge stand-off'. Which it kind of does with Robert and Cain but it doesn't go the way you think it's gonna go.

"Then we get the revelation that Victoria is suddenly at the scene and she's standing over John's body. How can that have happened? And that will be revealed in time," he added.

The actor reflected on John's reign of terror since his arrival back in 2024, and described his time on the soap as a "rollercoaster".

"These parts don't come along very often and it's been such a kind of juicy role to get my teeth into. And really, the year and a half that I've been here has just flown by because it's like being on a rollercoaster. It's been absolutely crazy," he shared.

"I've said it before but I think in my third week in the job, I got the scripts and I was like, 'Alright, I kill Nate [Robinson]. Okay. Really, really lovely, popular Nate. How's that gonna go down with viewers?'

"I had the initial scripts, I knew about his military past, I knew he had dark secrets and I knew he was a long lost Sugden. So, I kind of put those together and you know, you get kind of colour palette of where you're gonna go from there."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
