A Hollyoaks star has hinted at a "catastrophic" twist for one key character.
John Middleton, known for starring in Emmerdale as Ashley Thomas, has joined the Channel 4 soap as Froggy Black, the criminal grandfather of Clare Devine and Grace Black.
He has wasted no time causing trouble while residing in Longmere Prison, striking up a friendship with Tom Cunningham, who has become his secret financial adviser.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Middleton teased the twist involving his character that's coming our way.
When asked by host Ed Balls if the convicted criminal is going to be reformed, he said: "I might appear reformed, but he knows a lot of secrets about other people, and in fact one in particular if he revealed what he knows about that person's past. It would be catastrophic."

He teased that Hollyoaks fans will "have to see how the story develops" as his storyline kicks off.
Speaking to Radio Times ahead of his Hollyoaks debut, Middleton explained the attraction of the role after playing the beloved Emmerdale vicar for two decades.
"It was a great attraction that Froggy is a total contrast to Ashley," he told the publication.

"People have said it would be good to see me in a different light after playing the same role for 21 years, when this opportunity came along my agent and myself were very keen. It’s totally different to anything I’ve done before.
"Ashley was the pillar of the community, an upright person, and before him I’d played numerous clerical, medical, and professional types. Now I’m a moral degenerate descending on Hollyoaks!"
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
