Hollyoaks has revealed that a popular character will learn that they are pregnant in a hugely surprising twist.
In last week's episodes, the relationship between Nancy and Darren Osborne – which has become strained in recent months – looked to be over for good as she handed him divorce papers, with the shocking development coming after they slept together the previous night.
The drama isn't done there, however, with next week's scenes beginning as Nancy conceals a positive pregnancy test from her estranged husband. Darren, who had harboured hopes that their relationship could be salvaged, remains crestfallen at the separation order.
In addition to the positive pregnancy test, Nancy also has family drama on her plate as Oscar prepares for his operation at the hospital, with the youngster remaining perturbed by Frankie's absence.

Nancy confides in Mercedes about the pregnancy, informing her friend that it occurred during a "regretful" and "brief" reconciliation. After sharing that she doesn't want to keep the baby, Mercedes asks Nancy what she wants from her future.
Still confused over their separation, Darren returns to Nancy with more questions, though she expresses her frustration regarding his lack of attention towards Oscar. As the pair struggle to balance co-parenting and their impending separation, the argument escalates.
With tensions coming to boiling point, will the pair be able to arrange a happy middle-ground in their increasingly untenable situation? And will Nancy inform Darren that she is currently carrying his child?

Nancy and Darren aren't the only figures in Hollyoaks to have some relationship troubles, with Cleo McQueen seeing the breakdown of her romance with Sienna Blake following a convoluted plot involving affairs and poisonings.
"The good thing about Cleo is that everything she does gets a reaction – whether that’s positive or negative," said Nadine Mulkerrin, who debuted as Cleo in 2015, of her character's arc. "The fans are talking, and that’s what it’s all about."
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
