Hollyoaks has aired two shocking cliffhangers in Abe Fielding's story, with several characters left in grave danger.

Last week, Peri and Cleo managed to record Abe confessing to his evil crimes, including two rapes and his kidnap of Cleo for over a year.

But after the group of women realised that even a prison sentence wouldn't be justice, Mercedes decided that they had no other option but to kill him.

In today's episode, Abe desperately tried to phone his mum Marie for help, as he packed some things to prepare to flee the village.

Leela was unsure about their deadly plan, but the others convinced her they needed to go through with it. Mercedes went to Freddie to acquire a gun, and while he initially refused, he eventually gave her the weapon.

As The Hutch officially re-opened, Joel came to support Marie, but he thought that Leela was going to the police and was surprised that she hadn't yet returned.

Leela lured Abe to her flat, claiming that she would help make the confession video disappear. But while she, Cleo and Peri were waiting for Mercedes to arrive, Abe got there first and discovered they were planning to kill him.

As Abe confronted the women, Mercedes arrived and shot Abe, but he was only grazed by the bullet. When Joel arrived, Abe aimed the gun at both Cleo and Leela, but when he realised there were no bullets left, he ran away.

He went straight to The Hutch and asked his mum Marie for help, but when she refused, he held her at knifepoint in the restaurant.

She was saved when Darren and Tony attacked Abe together, but in the chaos, Tony got stabbed.

Marie was unable to help her dying partner, as Abe bundled her into Tony's car – but Joel spotted them and followed in pursuit.

Meanwhile, Sienna and Jez were shocked when Martha said she had been talking to Abe about their family drama and revealed that she had told him where Dilly is buried.

As the two brothers drove towards one another – with Joel unaware that Marie is with Abe – neither refused to back down and they appeared to crash head-on.

With four characters left in serious danger, who will survive?
