Hollyoaks airs unexpected arrest in Grace Black scheme

Hollyoaks has aired an unexpected arrest in Grace Black's scheme to save her marriage.

Viewers will know that before Christmas, Grace became aware that her husband Freddie was falling in love with Mercedes and they planned to run away together.

In a plan to get him back, Grace enlisted her brother Rex to shoot Freddie with a sniper gun so that Grace could intervene and look like a hero.

Her plan worked and she jumped in front of the bullet with minor injuries. Following this, Freddie stayed with Grace.

Meanwhile Rex has been keeping a woman named Kat and her son Jacob in a safe house. He gave Jacob the gun and told him to dispose of it.

Tonight's (January 20) episode saw Grace come home to discover that Freddie was moving them in with Robbie for protection.

Jacob told Rex that he had kept the gun used to shoot Grace and attempted to blackmail Rex to help get his mum out of the safe house.

"I heard about some woman getting shot on Christmas Day and I thought it might come in handy," Jacob told Rex, before Rex admitted that shooting Grace was her idea.

Grace became annoyed after discovering that Rex had paid someone to get rid of the gun and she offered Jacob more money to get rid of the weapon.

At Rex's birthday meal, Freddie turned up with a still from the CCTV footage which showed Jacob at the garage on New Years Eve, thinking that he had identified the shooter.

When Grace met Jacob to give him more money and to cover her tracks, DI Banks arrived to arrest Jacob with the help of Freddie.

Finally, Grace told Rex that he needed to make sure Jacob remained quiet, saying: "You need to make sure that kid keeps his mouth shut. I am not going to lose Freddie over this."

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
