Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (October 29), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

Hollyoaks has aired a major twist involving JJ Osborne in the show’s latest episode.

In recent episodes, JJ was told that his leukaemia treatment wasn’t working, and that his best hope was a bone marrow transplant.

Scared he was becoming a burden, JJ ran away from the hospital and delivered a note to Frankie, apologising for his years of sexual abuse. He then collapsed in the village and was rushed to hospital after contracting pneumonia.

Darren told Frankie that he wasn’t a match for JJ’s bone marrow, so explained that she could be his brother’s last hope of survival.

In today’s episode, Frankie arrived at JJ’s bedside and confronted him, struggling to believe that he has just now realised that what he did was wrong.

But she told him that she had decided to give him her bone marrow, so that he could get better and would be able to face her in court.

Meanwhile, Darren informed Nancy of Frankie’s decision, and she was wary that he doesn’t put pressure on Frankie, as a victim of JJ’s abuse.

JJ asked Frankie to take him outside hospital for some fresh air, and it was then that Frankie demanded answers from her brother about just why he abused her.

He explained that their childhood was unstable, and that their ‘school discos’ made him feel good – but Frankie wondered why the abuse stopped for years and restarted when they moved to the village.

JJ reflected that he was jealous of Frankie’s success as they got older, and he eventually admitted that he wanted to control and hurt her, which left Frankie devastated.

While he said he was sickened by his behaviour, Frankie wasn’t convinced and stood up to her brother, arguing that he was only showing remorse because she exposed his abuse.

As he vowed to pay for what he did, JJ asked if Frankie could ever forgive him, but she remained firm that she hated him, before JJ’s health took a turn for the worse.

Back in his hospital bed, JJ told Frankie he had recorded a full confession of the abuse on his phone, and he accepted that he was a bad person who wanted to change.

As his favourite song came on the radio, JJ suddenly flatlined and with doctors rushing in to treat him, all Frankie and Darren could do was watch.

Has JJ lost his life?
