Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Jessica Fox has hinted that she'll be sticking with the soap after the autumn time jump.

The Channel 4 show will air a UK soap first in September when its storylines shift forward by 12 months.

Hollyoaks has written in the time jump to mark a major change for the long-running drama, which is cutting back from five weekly episodes to three.

This will lead to the departure of several cast members, with the shift forward helping to explain why so many characters have left the village.

Speaking to Digital Spy on the red carpet at the Radio Times Soap Awards, Jessica – who plays Nancy Osborne – praised the producers for the novel approach to the off-screen changes.

She told us: "I think it's brilliant. We keep going, 'Oh, we're in the future!' It's a really novel and exciting way of dealing with a situation.

"It also means that you can tease so many things."

Jessica jokingly added: "I was like, 'Oh, maybe we'll all have superpowers! Maybe that's it, maybe one of us will click our fingers and we'll all just disappear'. Anything is possible with a time jump."

Asked about her own future on the show, she replied: "They don't want us to talk about whether we're staying or not staying! But you'll have to drag me out of there, quite honestly. I've only just got back from maternity leave, so watch this space."

Hollyoaks announced the time jump in March, a few weeks after the show's new three-episodes-per-week scheduling pattern was confirmed.

Executive producer Hannah Cheers said at the time: "It's not kind to our characters or our audience to have a drawn-out stream of goodbyes on screen, and a heightened stunt didn't feel like the right approach. We also want the flexibility to see favourite characters again and we got really excited about how this would work.

"We believe this creative approach will celebrate the uniqueness of Hollyoaks and will serve and honour our amazing characters – throwing us forward into exciting new territory as we pave the way to our 30th anniversary in 2025."

The Radio Times Soap Awards took place at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on Saturday evening (July 13). Hollyoaks took home two prizes on the night, with Iz Hesketh (Kitty Draper) winning Best Newcomer and Mercedes McQueen's twins having different dads triumphing as Best Twist.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
