Hollyoaks has aired a twist for Abe Fielding, with a mystery character being introduced in the storyline.
The newcomer has made a bold entrance in the village, rekindling things with his ex-flame Cleo as he caused a storm in the McQueen household.
Mercedes has naturally been sceptical of his intentions, with tonight’s (March 4) first-look episode beginning as she attempted to get on his good side in a bid to pounce should he let his guard down.

She began her quest for information by speaking to Joel, Abe’s half-brother, in the park, with the pair discussing a possible theory of vengeance on Abe’s part; unbeknown to them, Abe was observing the entire conversation.

Theresa arrived to give Mercedes a lead, informing her that Abe has some personal effects at the youth centre. Mercedes had a rummage through his locker, but was swiftly caught by Abe, who suggested they settle their differences.
Given Abe’s history with both Cleo and Theresa, Mercedes attempted to discover who he had been speaking to on the phone, and the newcomer revealed it was his mother.
After Abe confirmed that Cleo confided in him regarding her diagnosis of bulimia, Mercedes relented as Joel arrived at the scene.

In private, Abe confirmed that their mother wants Joel to visit her in prison, but he refused owing to his troubled upbringing and proclaimed that he doesn’t want anything to do with her.
Mercedes later told Theresa and Cleo that she had gotten things wrong, saying Abe’s intentions seemed genuine. But perhaps she should have trusted her instinct, as the newcomer was seen meeting a mystery figure outside the house.
The pair, who undoubtedly have a shared history, conversed as they seemed to progress with their mystery plan. Abe then handed the enigmatic woman a huge wad of cash as she departed…
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
