Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Monday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Tuesday.
Hollyoaks tonight aired a cliffhanger as the conversion therapy storyline involving John Paul and Carter continues.
Early on, John Paul was tricked into a date at the pub with Scott by Diane. Mid-way through the date, however, Carter entered the pub to collect his drinks order for the Christmas party, with the two clocking each other.
Carter apologised to Maxine, but she criticised him for making her "feel cheap" after their one-night stand. Carter tried to make amends by asking her to join him at the party as his date.

Later, John Paul saw Carter’s daughter Freya crying over her dad, unsure if he even liked her. John Paul suggested that Carter doesn’t "know himself half the time", to which Freya asked what he meant by that.

John Paul explained that there are several things she should know about her dad. He said that Carter was a religious man struggling to reconcile certain feelings, but Freya mistook that for thinking her dad wanted to sleep around.
Freya then confronted Carter, leading to Carter, in turn, confronting John Paul in the pub bathroom for talking to his daughter about such a topic.

Carter said he was trying to "be a better person", but John Paul retorted that he was living a lie and threatened to tell Maxine about them.
Carter pushed John Paul against the wall, but in the midst of the argument, Carter kissed him. The two then entered the bathroom stall together.
As they were redressing, Carter asked John Paul not to tell anyone. But as is usually the case in soapland, secrets don't stay secret for long, and it's no different here, as a mystery person was seen leaving the stall next to them... Who was it and will they reveal all?
