Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

Hollyoaks has revealed Romeo Nightingale and Peri Lomax's secret over Rayne Royce's death.

The two have been panicked ever since Rayne's mysterious demise, as Romeo has become a prime suspect while Peri is hiding a childhood connection to Rayne that only Romeo knows about.

In Friday's Channel 4 streaming episode, more of Rayne's videos resurfaced where she spoke about "manipulators" and "bullies" in her life that made it seem like Romeo was a suspect.

James Nightingale was determined to get Rayne's ex-boyfriend Brent to confess to the crime, so he enlisted Ste Hay to question Peri about the period where Brent held her hostage.

Ste spoke to Peri's mum Leela Lomax first, though she relayed that Peri remains absolutely convinced that Brent couldn't have killed Rayne.

As she confided in Ste about Peri's recurring nightmares, Peri revealed she'd been listening the whole time and insisted: "It doesn't mean I did it!"

James visited Brent in prison to put pressure on him to confess, though the inmate was insistent he was innocent.

When James offered to help Brent craft a "self-defense strategy", Brent turned nasty as he vowed that the release of more of Rayne's videos would "turn the tide against Romeo".

In the village, Peri confronted James after Ste admitted to her that the lawyer had visited Brent in prison. Peri urged James not to pin Rayne's murder on Brent because "he doesn't deserve it".

The night's cliffhanger saw Peri placing a secret call to Romeo where she reiterated that they'd "stick to the plan" by "telling no-one what [they] did to Rayne".

"I'll tell no-one. Just pray it doesn't get out there," Peri vowed.

Meanwhile, James got word from a mysterious contact that Brent had been attacked in prison and was now willing to confess.

What did Peri and Romeo do to Rayne before her death?
