Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Thursday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Friday.

Hollyoaks' James Nightingale made a concerning discovery over son Romeo and his late girlfriend Rayne Royce.

The influencer was recently found dead in a swimming pool at a house party, with several attendees coming under suspicion as they all had a motive for the crime.

Romeo, who had been manipulated by Rayne, hasn't exactly helped his case by going on the run, with several people questioning if an innocent man would disappear.

In tonight's (October 5) first-look episode, James and Ste attempted to calm down the hysteria from the situation, but their cause wasn't helped as Brent's mother Cheryl confronted them in the view of cameras.

They got another surprise when a post was uploaded to Rayne's social media channels, with the video showing the influencer speaking to the camera as she said she was scared of Romeo.

As James looked around his son's room, Romeo returned to collect things before he departed, but James pleaded with him to stay in a bid to clear his name. As he went to leave, Romeo dropped a notebook, with James subsequently disturbed by its contents.

With James thinking that Romeo had potentially hurt Rayne, an emotional Romeo revealed that he wrote the words from his late girlfriend's perspective, telling James that he was the victim of abuse.

Romeo confided to his understanding father that he didn't know what to do during the worse stages of the relationship, but James pleaded with him to keep the revelation under wraps, for it could easily be viewed as a motive.

James agreed that Romeo needed to spend some time away to clear his head, before Cheryl approached the lawyer to say she would do anything for her son. Her threat backfired, however, with James confirming he would do the same.

As Romeo departed the village in a taxi, he was called by an unknown person, with the pair seemingly knowing more than they let on...

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
