Hollyoaks to address war in Ukraine in poignant scenes

Hollyoaks is set to touch on the war in Ukraine in a poignant upcoming scene.

The moment comes amid a Eurovision storyline on the soap, as Vicky Grant plans to volunteer for the beloved music competition.

In the new scenes, someone walks off with Vicky's laptop while her back is turned for a minute. The teen panics, especially as she hasn't backed up the device.

Vicky is already stressed over the work that she needs to catch up on at school, so she leans on DeMarcus for support.

Scott hears that Vicky is planning to pull out of school after falling so far behind, and is unhappy about the turn of events. Though, he decides to take her with him for the day, after Scott learns that Vicky has signed up to volunteer at Eurovision.

However, she fails to read the T&Cs, and discovers that she won't be able to work there as she is underage. As she leaves, Angelina - a volunteer from Ukraine - offers to walk her to the train station.

On the journey, Angelina tells Vicky about her life back in her home country, which gives Vicky food for thought about quitting school.

This leads Vicky to reassess the decision about her education, as the contrast in their situations puts her life into perspective.

As part of the show's Eurovision storyline, former UK contestant Sonia is set to make a cameo on the soap, where she will sing her classic track 'Better the Devil You Know'.

A Hollyoaks insider told Digital Spy of the scenes: "Sonia will be appearing in Hollyoaks this spring for a Eurovision themed episode. More information will be released in the coming weeks."

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
