Hollyoaks has revealed two huge twists for couples on its Valentine’s Day episode.

In tonight’s (February 13) episode, Juliet and Peri declared their love for each other, while there was a surprise proposal for one happy couple.

With the various residents planning their celebrations for the day, love was very much in the air throughout the village – apart from in the Nightingale household, where Juliet and James were dour.

Donna-Marie, seeing that her daughter was down, was adamant that she should rekindle her relationship with Peri, and was resolved to get Juliet in the mood.

After bumping into Leela, who revealed that Peri still had feelings for her old flame, Juliet initially began to plan a romantic gesture for Peri.

In the meantime, Peri and Ste were celebrating by being single on Valentine’s Day, before the latter had a frank conversation with James.

With the pair attempting to fix a broken shower, Ste confessed that he still had feelings for James, but the latter seemed reluctant to reciprocate.

When Ste arrived at the Valentine’s party, he inadvertently demoralised Juliet by revealing that Peri seemed content with the single life, leaving her to change her mind about the grand plan.

After some words of wisdom from Scott, Juliet had a change of heart and confessed her love for Peri with an emotional speech. The pair shared a long-awaited kiss, much to the delight of Leela and Donna-Marie.

It wasn’t the last big moment on the microphone, however, with James shocking everyone by proposing to Ste.

The latter, emotional at James’ romantic gesture, said yes with tears in his eyes, meaning his and Peri’s pledge to stay single didn’t last long at all!
