Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe has teased a tantalising new story for her character Mercedes McQueen in the upcoming Christmas episodes.
Speaking to Digital Spy at the Inside Soap Awards, Metcalfe spoke about what fans can expect for Mercedes in new stories following the fallout from serial killer Silas Blisset's death. After Bobby Costello caused Silas' death, Mercedes left the Hollyoaks village for some time away with Bobby.
This means that Mercedes and Bobby's return to the show will undoubtedly be filled with drama and consequences, and Metcalfe told Digital Spy to watch out for the upcoming Christmas episodes, where some of those consequences might be revealed.

"It's a really good Christmas episode. There's a gear change for Mercedes. There might be another man involved, so watch this space," Metcalfe said.

In particular, Metcalfe thinks Mercedes could be in for yet another love interest.
"Always, she loves it! Mercedes has had about seven marriages – so eight, nine, ten, let's go! Let's just go up to 20," Metcalfe said.
The previous events led to some fans speculating that Metcalfe was leaving the show for good, but Metcalfe shut down these rumours herself and said that she would eventually be back.

"There's going to be fireworks. I think how we left her last time, there was so much trauma in the family. She had to step away with Bobby. When she comes back, she has to clean up some unfinished business."
Metcalfe recently confirmed that she's signed another contract with the soap, keeping her on the show for a further year.
Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
