Hollyoaks' Mercedes receives sinister clue over Silas' return

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has hinted at Mercedes McQueen being in danger as the soap is gearing up for Silas Blissett's return this autumn.

At the end of tonight's (September 1) episode, Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) received an unsettling letter from the serial killer (Jeff Rawle).

Prior to such a disturbing finale, Mercedes went to war with Grace Black (Tamara Wall), who was upset over the McQueens' newly opened speakeasy.

Whilst having a party at her own bar across the street, Grace realised that Nana McQueen (Diane Langton) had stolen one of her signature cocktail recipes, passing it off as her own.

Nana claimed the formula for her boozy concoction was passed down to her by her mother, Queenie McQueen, but was promptly exposed as soon as Grace took a sip of it.

"You have stolen my recipe," Grace told Nana, who simply replied: "Stolen is a very strong word. I prefer 'borrowed'."

Grace assured Nana she would pay for this, then proceeded to take down the banners of the newly opened bar. Her fury attracted the attention of Mercedes, who got the police involved.

The two women managed to patch things up when Grace admitted she was having a little celebration to take her mind off missing Saul (Chris Charles). Mercedes, who also suffered the loss of Sylver (David Tag), was sympathetic and she and Grace managed to settle their controversy.

In the final scenes, Mercedes received a red letter with a pretty clear message: "I'm coming for you."

She initially laughed it off, thinking it must've been from Grace, but immediately grew worried as she noticed a chess piece printed on the back of the letter.

"This chess piece can only mean one thing. Silas is back."
