Brody Hudson has fresh hope to clear his name over Liberty Savage's disappearance in Hollyoaks.

Brody is currently on the run after wrongly becoming a suspect in the disappearance, while the true culprit Summer has Liberty holed up in the abandoned kitchen.

Summer's plan started to unravel this week when Liberty managed to slip a condolence note into a cake her captor had baked for Leah Barnes, since she'd been led to believe she'd killed the girl.

In Wednesday's (August 11) first-look episode, Ste confronted Sienna to find out if the ominous letter had come from Summer, only for Sienna to realise the condolence note was in Liberty's handwriting!

Sienna rushed off to share "the best news ever" with Damon that Liberty was alive. However, Summer overheard the conversation and insisted Sienna let her turn over the evidence to police.

"You're so desperate for Liberty to be alive that you've convinced yourself that she wrote this when she didn't," Summer told her. "She's dead. Why don't I take it in for you instead? You've been in there [the police station] loads of times and they've never believed you."

Sienna went along with Summer's plan, only for her devious partner to swipe the note for her own purposes instead. Rushing to the abandoned kitchen, she warned Liberty that she felt like "doing [her] in right now".

"Things are getting out of control and I need to act fast… It means I'm saying goodbye to Chester," she revealed.

Liberty was horrified as Summer said she'd be leaving her locked away in her prison, before taunting her with the truth that Leah wasn't actually dead.

"You silly cow," Summer sneered as she headed off.

Back in the village, Damon warned Sienna that she was being gaslit by Summer over Liberty's disappearance. Sienna was left with a lot to think about when Summer later tried to prevent her from calling DS Cohen about the note.

Damon soon made contact with Brody to let him know there was hope to clear his name.

"Liberty is out there somewhere and I don't know how yet, but we're going to find her," Damon insisted.
