Hollyoaks aired another of its classic episodes yesterday (April 16) as part of its Hollyoaks Favourites series, allowing the soap to air daily without using up the limited new episodes, and getting us all nostalgic in the process.

The episode in question focused on a fan-favourite character, Brendan Brady, as we delved into his dark history with his father Seamus.

However, the episode had some changes to it, beyond just a sweet introduction from star Kieron Richardson.

Two moments from the episode's original airing were censored, beginning with a flashback scene which showed Brendan pushing his nemesis Walker into a train.

The scene received a single complaint made to broadcast regulator Ofcom at the time, with a viewer claiming that it was unsuitable for a pre-watershed broadcast.

Channel 4 said that it had signposts about the content and viewers were expecting the scenes due to the context of the storyline, but Ofcom still found it to be in a breach of guidelines, which explains why the scene was cut this time around.

Furthermore, but less noticeable, some homophobic language was removed was the latest airing. The second time that Seamus called his son a "filthy queer" had been partially cut-off.

Kieron Richardson recently said: "Hollyoaks Favourites is certainly the fans' show, and we have to give them what they want.

"If they want Brendan, then we have to do that. I think I've seen lots more messages of people requesting things, so if this is ongoing, and continues to be so popular, I think it would be amazing if fans had an input as to what favourite episodes they get to see."

Hollyoaks airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm. Wednesdays through Fridays on E4 feature classic episodes called Hollyoaks Favourites to compensate for the soap suspending filming.
