Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's Ross Barton was on the receiving end of a chilling threat in tonight's (10 July) double episode, which hinted at imminent danger. Viewers know that for weeks, Mackenzie Boyd has been nursing a terrible secret about Ross being baby Leyla's biological father, with Mack barely able to hide his hatred for his one-time friend.
Meanwhile, Kev Townsend has been trying to build a relationship with Lewis Barton, and Lewis has decided to give his biological dad another chance.

Lewis' big brother, Ross, and his business partner, Nicola King, are fiercely protective of him and are hoping Kev gets the message that he's not welcome and leaves town.
Tonight, Lewis and Nicola were shocked to find that the cafe had been ransacked and robbed. Attempting to work out who was behind the robbery, the pair eventually concluded that Kev must have been involved and were determined to uncover the truth.

After Lewis and Nicola accused him of the crime, an outraged Kev adamantly denied any involvement in the robbery, saying: "I never went near the gaff."
When Lewis and Nicola found their cash box in his trailer, Kev tried to plead his case, claiming he had been set up by Ross, but his son remained unconvinced.
Following a heated discussion, Kev told Lewis: "You need to decide who to trust. Me, or them?"
It was later revealed that Nicola and Ross had staged the whole thing to get Kev to leave the village. When Ross came home, he found Kev sitting at his table, who told him that he knew he had set him up.
He said: "You are going to go to Lewis right now and tell him what you and Nicola tried to do to me. I gave you the choice. I tried to be nice."

The episode ended with Kev, who, by this point, knew that Mack wasn't happy with Ross, threatening him over the enemies he had in the village.
"I see you," said Kev. "I know your secrets. And I'm not the only one. There's plenty of people round here who hate your guts. And when they come for you, which they will, you're done."
Looking ahead to next week's scenes, Mack lures Ross to a barn, where a vicious argument breaks out.
"Tensions flare, they trade heated words, and the confrontation escalates into a scuffle," said Lawrence Robb, who plays Mack. "Mack pushes Ross over the side. In that moment, Mack isn't trying to kill him – he just wants to hurt him. He achieves that and walks away."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
