Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Secrets rarely stay buried in Emmerdale. This Thursday’s (2 July) episode saw Kyle receive a heartbreaking shock as Cain finally revealed the truth about Graham's connection to his mother Amy's death.

The revelation came after Lydia found Graham’s watch in Kyle’s belongings, having already noticed him wearing it after Joe pointed the accessory out. When Cain and Moira confronted Kyle, he admitted Graham had given him the watch. However, he stopped short of revealing the real reason behind the gift.

Emmerdale viewers will remember that Graham gave Kyle his old army watch after finding out the lad was the mystery arsonist that had targeted Emmerdale Farm.

Cain also began to suspect Graham had been influencing Kyle in other ways, including encouraging his sudden interest in joining the cadets. Determined to find out exactly what had been going on, Cain confronted Graham himself.

Graham didn't keep quiet for long. He explained that Kyle's recent behaviour had been driven by frustration and a desire to regain some control over his life after everything he'd endured the past year.

Kyle has faced one ordeal after another, from Cain's cancer diagnosis and Moira's prison stint to losing his home after Robert Sugden's takeover. But nothing compared to the loss of his mother.

Amy Wyatt was killed in the devastating Valentine's Day limo crash in 2025, a tragedy that changed the lives of several villagers. After speaking to Graham, Cain returned home determined to reconnect with his son. Instead, the conversation quickly descended into an emotional confrontation.

Kyle insisted that Graham was different to the Tates, whom the Dingles have long feuded with, prompting Cain to fire back: "You're right there because he's worse." The argument escalated further when Kyle admitted Graham had been the only person who had really paid attention to him since Amy died.

Unable to hold back any longer, Cain blurted out the devastating truth: Graham has been protecting Joe Tate, whose actions ultimately led to Amy's death.

Amy Wyatt was one of three women killed off in the Valentine’s Day limo crash disaster in 2025, alongside Suzy Merton and Leyla Harding. Although she survived the initial crash, she later fell through the frozen lake before suffering cardiac arrest in hospital after developing severe hypothermia.

The disaster unfolded after Charity Dingle swerved the limousine to avoid her son, Noah, who had stumbled into the road. At the time, nobody knew why Noah had been wandering alone. It later emerged that Joe had kidnapped and drugged his half-brother before holding him captive in a private hospital.

Joe had been desperately searching for a kidney donor after developing chronic kidney disease and initially believed Noah could be a suitable match. After discovering he wasn't, Joe abandoned him at the roadside, setting off the chain of events that ended in the fatal crash.

Despite his role in the tragedy, Joe escaped prosecution after the coroner ruled the deaths accidental, leaving no evidence directly linking him to the crash. Over the months that followed, Charity, Kerry and Matty all uncovered the truth about Joe's actions but were unable to prove his involvement. Joe later went on to steal Caleb's kidney after discovering he was a suitable donor.

Now, Cain's confession has turned Kyle's world upside down. Having spent weeks believing Graham was someone he could trust, Kyle has suddenly learned that he was protecting the man whose actions led to Amy's death.

In upcoming scenes, Kyle sets out to confront Graham himself as he searches for answers. But with emotions running high, the meeting could have devastating consequences.

Emmerdale continues this Friday (3 July) from 7.45pm on ITV.
