Newly-cast Emmerdale star Bradley Riches has shut down the trolls that sent hateful messages following the announcement of his joining the ITV soap.
The Heartstopper actor and Celebrity Big Brother contestant is currently filming his first Emmerdale scenes, but his character and storyline are being kept under wraps for now.
Following the news of his casting, Riches took to his Instagram Stories to respond to those who sent nasty comments.
"Beyond excited to be joining Emmerdale! A dream come true," he wrote.

"But let's talk real for a second. Some of the comments and messages I've received are vile. Too many people are quick to judge me regarding my sexuality or being autistic, without thinking about the impact of their words.

In the announcement itself, Riches stated joining the soap was a "bucket list" thing for him. He explained it was his granddad's favourite soap and the cast and crew have been very welcoming so far.
Producer Laura Shaw added: "Bradley brings a wealth of talent and his warmth, wit and charisma makes him perfect for this new Emmerdale role.
"We have some wonderful stories for him to play and we can't wait for the audience to see Bradley bring his new character bursting into life on screen."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
