Emmerdale addresses missing character in ITVX episode

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday's episode (December 23), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale has updated fans on Noah Dingle after he was mysteriously absent from Amelia Spencer's exit episode.

Sarah Sugden filled in the blanks in Monday's episode, revealing that Noah is heartbroken over the sudden departure of his ex-girlfriend.

Amelia left the village for a fresh start in Leicester last week, keen to make a clean break after her upsetting experiences in the Tom King storyline.

The teenager arranged to go and stay with her biological father Daz, who returned to the village to help her make the move with her young daughter Esther.

Although Noah was in a relationship with Amelia up until the summer, and once acted as a father figure to Esther, he wasn't present for their farewell scenes on Friday.

Monday's episode saw Sarah mention Noah while attending a Christmas carol concert that Bob Hope had organised in memory of his late son Heath.

When Jacob Gallagher asked why Sarah was attending on her own, she replied: "Gran's busy at the pub – and I tried to get Noah to come but he's feeling un-festive because of Amelia. He didn't even get to say goodbye to her."

Jacob replied: "Ouch. That's gotta hurt."

Amelia and Noah's relationship turned sour earlier this year when he became jealous over her connection to Esther's father Samson Dingle.

Amelia struggled to forgive Noah when she found out that he'd reported Samson to the police over an attack on Josh Cope.

This made matters worse for Samson, as he was already in big trouble over his involvement in a robbery at The Hide and his lies about being deliberately stabbed by Matty Barton.

Noah later told Amelia that he still wanted to be part of Esther's life, but she suggested it was best for everyone if he kept his distance.
