Emmerdale has revealed a secret struggle for Angelica King after her prison release, in the show’s latest episode.

The teenager has spent the last eight months in a Secure Children’s Home after her dangerous driving caused Heath Hope’s death.

She recently returned to the village but has struggled to reintegrate into normal life, causing Nicola to become concerned about her daughter.

In today’s episode, Laurel found Angelica at the kitchen table on her laptop early in the morning, and Angelica explained that she was doing schoolwork.

She said that she wasn’t ready to return to school just yet, and snapped when Laurel encouraged her to go back.

Later, Nicola told Laurel that Angelica was still in bed, and Laurel explained that she had seen her working hard earlier that morning.

Nicola realised that she had been obsessed with her laptop recently, and when she decided to investigate, she found that Angelica had been on an online forum for young people in a situation to her.

She was shocked to read that Angelica had sent a message that said: "I attacked some girl, got my sentence extended. Didn’t feel a thing."

Nicola was horrified that she showed no remorse for the incident which took place back in August, and confronted Angelica about it.

But Angelica explained that she hadn’t seen the whole message, and when Nicola read on, she discovered the truth about how she had been feeling.

"I just want to be like I was before," she wrote, "but I think what I’ve done has changed me, ruined me. My parents hate me, I feel broken, and I don’t know if I can ever be fixed."

As Angelica ran away in tears after opening up about her mental state, will Nicola be able to provide support for her daughter?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
