Emmerdale spoilers follow from Thursday's episode (October 31), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale villain Tom King has been released without charge by the police again – but there's still hope that he'll get his comeuppance.

The evil schemer faced fresh questioning in Thursday's episode following his aunt Nicola's decision to report him for lying over his missing tablet computer.

Tom has aroused suspicion with his behaviour regarding the computer device, which contained crucial evidence proving that he abused his wife Belle.

Earlier this week, Nicola took her young stepson Carl down to the police station to share the story of how Tom threatened him over the tablet, then destroyed it to cover his tracks.

In Thursday's episode, things weren't looking good for Tom at the police station as DS Foy challenged him over his ever-changing stories and excuses.

Foy pointed out that Tom had lied about the fate of the tablet, as well as the number of cameras that he'd creepily put up around his marital home. A freshly-discovered invoice proved that Tom had purchased several cameras to spy on Belle, rather than just one like he'd previously claimed.

The no-nonsense detective also revealed that Belle's mental health team believe she was of sound mind when she made allegations against Tom.

A potential smoking gun was also revealed when Foy confirmed that the police investigators had finally found Tom's broken tablet, which would be closely examined by an IT team to see if any data could be recovered.

While it seemed like only a matter of time before things would become very serious for Tom, he was once again allowed to return home without charge for the time being.

Upon his release, Tom faced another tense exchange with Nicola, who still doesn't believe his protestations of innocence.

Tom also appeared startled as someone smashed up the windscreen of his car, wanting to make it clear that he's not welcome in the village.

With animosity towards Tom growing by the day, and the police finally on the right track, is it only a matter of time before he's brought to justice?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
